The Clarks At The Busy Beaver In Delmont PA With The Fujifilm 100-400mm Lens

The Clarks will be headlining a show at the Busy Beaver in Delmont, PA. This is the new location for the Busy Beaver. They took over the movie theater in Delmont; I believe it was an old AMC theater. I have never been to the theater but have been to the Picante Mexican Grill that is located in front of the new Busy Beaver.

This was a last-minute idea. My sister contacted me saying that the Clarks would be having a free concert. I thought about it for short time before deciding to head over. The opening band was Tres Lads.

Camera Gear Of Choice

I usually like to try and only take 2 or maybe 3 lenses with me, to keep it simple and light and not make me think too much about what lens to use. I like using a wide lens to get images of how many people are at the event. Then go with a zoom so I can get right up close to the action. For years I used the 70-200mm on a full-frame Canon body, but now shooting with a Fujifilm cropped body I love the range of the 100-400mm lens. When you get to a lens like the 100-400 you have a variable aperture that doesn’t work the greatest in low light. At the time of purchasing this lens, I thought that I would only use it for nature, taking images of birds before the sun goes down but I seem to use it more and more for other types of photography.

Back when I was shooting outdoor weddings this lens was perfect to get right up close. A lot closer than I could ever get with my 70-200. When you are shooting concerts or events that have stage lights, you are going to expose for the light on the people’s faces and those lights are pretty bright so you can shoot at a low ISO without having to get too much grain in your images. I took the Fujifilm 16mm 1.4, the Fujifilm X100T for the 23mm 2.0, and the Fujifilm 100-400mm lens. I ended up not even taking out the 16mm or the X100T. I just backed up to get some of the crowd in my shots. Most of the shots were straight out of the camera. I only shot a few in RAW and the rest in JPG. I mostly like to shoot in RAW for the bright lights on their faces so that I can pull back the exposure in the post and make sure the highlights are not blown out.

What a relaxing photography day and a chance to listen to some great live music! :)
